OT, but since it came up

928 S4 316hp, 317lb/ft 6100 redline
'87-88 models have a 2.20 rear end
928GT 326hp, 317lb/ft 6600 redline
2.73 rear end
928GTS 354hp, 367lb/ft

GT models generally dyno near GTS numbers for HP. S4's are pretty true to the rating. Nothing comes close to the torque the muscular GTS exudes

My 951 had a MAF system and chips. The GT is easily as quick to100. Beyond that the 951 would have pulled away. It would be caught agin on the top end. Top speed for the GT is 170 <img src="graemlins/burnout.gif" border="0" alt="[burnout]" />

Steam from the tailpipe on start-up on a cold day is normal for any car. Combustion converts hydrocarbons (gasoline) mainly into H2O and CO2. When the water vapor hits a cold exhaust pipe it condenses into visible moisture. After the exhaust pipe has warmed up, the steam will go away.

I used to have an '87 944 na with a bad head gasket. The oil looked ok but it ate coolant like crazy and had thick white smoke on start-up. There was also a lot of excess pressure in the cooling system after the engine was run. There wasn't any coolant leaking onto the ground at all though.

A quick story- about a year ago I was driving past a used car dealership and saw an oval-dash 944 for real cheap. It was unlocked so I popped the hood. I didn't see any coolant in the reservoir so I pulled the dipstick and milkshake. Didn't buy that one.

I now own an '87 928s4 with a manual and it doesn't feel at all sluggish when compared to the 951's I've driven. Although if you're running beau coupe boost I can imagine a 928 feeling sluggish in comparison.
