Post KLA Strut Tower Brace

Well,

For those of you that want this bar, but hesitated (or for that mater bought the bar but wondered) about its strength and construction...I have news!

First off, I think I covered the ease of installation and the fact that you have direct access (to those of us that own the camberplates) to the camber plates for adjustment. The older style Weltmeister setup is a real pain in the butt because you have to use round head allens to work inside the can when making adjustments.

Now, the good news, we had the car at the track again this last weekend. Ran the hell out of it, started with 15" 225's and 245's then moved up to 17" 275's on all corners, more suspension tweaks, once or twice off track, and the bar never gave. The camber plates stayed put, and the brace kit itself never gave an inch infact we forgot it was there. We'll be putting another 100 hard miles on it again this weekend at the same track for the TCRA event.

So, it looks like the kit was well thought out and I doubt very seriously if there will ever be an issue with strength or construction/materials.

By the way, here are the results of last weekend:

1-Kevin Roush, 73RSR
2-Steve Alarcon,80 911SC
3-Don Dicker, 99 996
4-Scott Brink,84 911
5-Greg Smith, 77 911
6-Richard buckton, 70 911S
7-Michael Kaidbey, 73 911
8-Ross Clardy, 86 911C
**9-Tim Comeau, 84 944** (Anderson car)
10-Mike Mansalve, 86 944T
11-Martin Jansen, 74 914/6
12-Jim Richmond, 86 944T
13-Walter Airth, 71 911
14-Jerry Roche, 82 911 SC
15-Guenter Lennarz, 83 911SC
16-Pete Yousko, 86 944T
17-Steve Gerken, 93 RS America
18-Garey Raymond, 76 914

Also, I would like to say, we are now the very proud dealer for the San Diego area for this Strut Brace Kit!!!

Take Care!

So, if you forgot it was there, does that mean it doesn't make a noticeable difference in handling? Or would that only be because you have a lot of other suspension adjustments?

As in................

It did its job and there was no reason to go back over the brace at any time. I mentioned the adjustments to the suspension and diferent tire sizes to show that we went thru various senerios with the brace and it worked great.

Kinda like the bolt that holds your rear trailing arm to the torsion tube, do you remember its there everytime you drive the car? Probably not, but let it fail or fall out, then you will...

As far as noticeable diference in handling...To be honest, I have to say no...it made no difference at all, or at least nothing our driver could tell us about...the handling was exactly the same as it was before I installed the brace.

But then again....we had the weltmeister brace in the car before we switched. So again, it looks like it did its job :-)

Take Care!

Well, knowing the Team from KLA on a personal level, knowing how they treat and take care of their cars, including one wifes car; they would only put out something that is first class and that works. Also since one of the team is the manufacturing business with heavy duty metals and parts, engineering wasn't an issue. The other big factor for me was that a former race car driver, who still races in local events, put this on his 944T - didn't expect it make a difference; he was impressed! Nuf said for me.
