Default Sewer Lids vs D90

Looking for another set of wheels to run some r compound while autocrossing. I came across a set of sewer lids for a decent price. They look heavy, are they compared to D90s?

which sewer lids? if they are the ones that look like D90s but have the indentation around the cutouts they are 951S rims and are forged and worth more than some running 944s.

if they are the 928 rims i cant help you.

I read somewhere that the Sewer lids weight something like 35-40 lbs each.

I don't know how much they weigh, but I remember when I took my sewer lids, they were pretty light.

Its my understanding that sewer lids from 928s are forged.

Might are light weight. No clue how much they weigh though.

D90's all day. Sewer lids are so ugly.

Tom R. I have never heard those reffered to as sewer lids before.
I just personaly think the 951S rims look more like D90s than Sewers.

I, too, have never heard of Club Sports referred to as "sewer lids."

The CS wheels are the same as D90s in appearance (accept for the lip on D90s at the end of the spokes, and of course forged vs cast)

I think he might be talking about the slotted disc wheels from the 928:

Forged = good. Weight: unknown. Appearance: ugh.

I have sewer lids on my 951, and there is no way in hell they weigh 35-40lbs each. Just not possible.

They are light, but not as light as the 928 phone dials I have for my winter wheels. Dunno if that helps or not

Sewer lids are forged wheels. The club sport wheels are the sewer lids with larger cutouts. I have heard of people cutting out the extra material from sewer lids to get them like club sports.

The D90's are a cast wheel.

IMHO the downside to sewer lids on the track is two fold.
1) limited cooling due to so much wheel? I am guessing here...

2) limited hand hold and vision to line up the studs. My race car sees wheel changes 2-3 times were weekend so it is really nice to be able to qucikly see the studs and be able to grab the center of the wheel to hold it.

1. Shouldn't be an issue - you got plenty of air coming in on the inside of the wheel.

2. Shouldn't be a problem - change your wheels enough, you can do it in a dark driveway without a flashlight regardless of the wheel. (Ask me how I know...)
