my 85' 944N/A has lots of vibration, at it seems to be the same at idle and at different RPM's and speed..
engine mounts seems to be ok (they are not ripped or anything (maybe they are old, it would still be bad and cause vibtration, right?)
could this vibration be because of bad gerar box mount?? cause it seems to be pretty worn out..
some say it could be because of transmission problems, what do you think?
even though porches are much cheaper here, they are not popular, i guess it is still a luxury good:-) so i can't get a good advise or buy spare parts in Lithuania.
thanks a bunch for your help.,
cheers

No one else has replied so here goes...
Vibration at idle is unlikely to be the gear box IMHO. Check the obvious things first:
1. Motor mounts. Have they been changed since new? Motor mounts will cause bad vibration at idle, during start-up/shut down and at engine speed. You can look for oil leaks, but best thing is to measure their height installed. New they are 65 mm between mounting surfaces. If they are less than 60 mm, they are no good and have to be replaced. Best way to measure their height is to bend a piece of stiff wire to 60 mm length and see if they are longer or shorter.
2. Balance shafts misaligned. Have you had your timing or balance shaft belts changed recently? It seems very common that one shaft gets set 180 degrees out of alignment. Search on "balance shafts" to find more information.
3. Tune up. A severely out of tune engine could cause your symptoms. Has the car been tuned at regular intervals? Rotor, distributor cap, spark plugs, spark plug wires etc. all good?
Hope this helps. <img src="graemlins/beerchug.gif" border="0" alt="[cheers]" />
