Didn't take the fan out of the shroud, but close enough.
Plugged the connectors in upside down. they were blowing forward rather than sucking in.
Drove me absolutely freaking crazy.

The pins are all loosey goosey, so new, yeah it would have been difficult, but after 20 years hard to to tell which way.
Billy. Best way to notice it. While standing in front of the car to do the bleeding hot air will blow on your ankles. Not normal. And it was bothering me, but I never made the connection.
