Posting "wanted" and "for sale" requires you to be a paid member. However, you can easily use the search feature to find parts that paid members have for sale.

You're gonna want to bookmark clark's garage, possibly the pelican forums as well, and find the PET

Oh, and besides the pics, you'll want to specify early or late car. '85 could be either.

Hey everyone thanks for all the awesome replies. I'm pretty sure according to the VIN mine is a late model 85+. Also it looks like the 85+ with the nose. The person who had it before me removed one of the glass packs i think it is or something from the muffler so that it sounds louder. Thats what the guy said anwyay. My car arrived yesterday, I haven't even driven it yet. I want to wait til I can drive it straight to a lift to fix a few things, found a fuel line leak near the fuel pump. I think it was installed incorrectly. I have a haynes book for it but I want and am looking for the better book.

I have read many conflicting messages about spark plugs and am probably just going to take the NGK plugs back and get the OEM plugs since I can't make heads or tails of who is right. lol.

nose stayed the same. I lost that bet a few years ago.

difference is dash. if you have a square pod with an analog clock in the center it is early. if you have a digital clock over the glove it is late. easier, if the dash is like your 951 it is late.

but your fun just begins there. the wheels are early, control arms? not sure, and the list goes on.

Hey everyone again. someone talked about a list that referenced VW to P items that are inherently the same. Like the door handles i think of the VW golf is the same for the 944 or something. Is it okay to use those handles? etc. etc.

I've read that some "old-time" VW/Porsche mechanics kept lists of interchangeable parts (kept on the down-low, as these mechanics could then order VW parts but charge Porsche prices ) but I have yet to see one.

Somebody here stared a list of interchangeable parts, but it doesn't include doorhandles or a lot of other stuff and has not been updated in a while.

With a specific question, you may want to start a new thread with your question as the title, e.g., "Will a Golf door handle fit a 944?". Some of the knowledgable 944 guys don't read 'welcome' threads but will pop in and answer a specific part/mechanical question they see.

You could also try a search; chances are someone else has tried it. For example, you could PM Airflite40 and ask him to update this thread about VW door handles. Search results from 944, might be something in the 951 area as well.

Or you may want to post a part-wanted thread as well or pm someone like Tod84944 who has extra parts at any given time

I dug up a picture of my old 951. The only one I have I think. this is during my HS graduation.

my pictures of my current 944 and 924S are too big have to shrink them down and then upload them later.
