Fuel check valve
Does anyone know how the fuel line check valve works. I pulled it last night while trouble-shooting a cold starting issue. I was expecting to see a piston/spring assembly. Something resembling a valve.
The part however, it just a hollow bolt with four ports evenly spaced around the circumference of the bolt. This valves fits through the fuel line fitting and feeds the line with the ports. (Similar arrangement to the bolt/line hookup on the power steering pump). I didn't see any moving components or springs in the assembly.
Is the reduction in flow area through the ports enough to prevent back flow in the line when the pump is off? I was expecting to see a piston and spring that opens when the pump pressurizes the line.
Am I missing something, or is this all there is to the check valve?

Is the check valve suppose to have a spring in it? Mine does not and most of the photos that I have found indicate a spring.
Martin944, can you check your spare?
