In that case, if any of you guys see a black 1987 924S in NJ, that has quite a bit of stuff in it, DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT give the driver heck for it. He's getting enough heck from his wife regarding the way he treats her car. (Enter long story about how she owns the Passat V6 and Porsche 924 here )

Please do not distrub car or driver as the car is going given to me by the owner of the vehicle. This deal was made with the intention of giving the car to someone who can give some TLC to a car in need.

Thank You for listening,
Andy <img src="graemlins/drink.gif" border="0" alt="[cherrsagai]" />

All this gives me hope that (if) when I decide to sell my very nice, always clean, always garaged 85 automatic NA, one of you northern guys might give me an extra $100. I can dream can't I?

Another pre-emptive disclaimer in case anyone spots my car in the Boston area...

I bought my India red '88 plain-jane two years ago for $3K off eBay. I had to outbid a junkyard to get it. It was a bit rough, but it's coming back to life nicely. The problem is, most of the work I've done has been on the mechanicals. So sitting in a parking lot on its original beat 15" phones with Blizzaks (mint 16" turbo phones for summer only) and with a couple dings and dents, and dirty as hell, one might be tempted to tear me a new cornchute for 944 abuse.

Cars get dirty after about 10 seconds of driving during the winter here, and it's seldom warm enough to wash them. Dirt and sand and gravel, clung to peoples' shoes and boots, get tracked into the interior constantly as well. So it's real hard to keep a car looking nice cosmetically during the brief 7 month New England winter.

But pop the hood or put my car on a lift and it's a whole different story. The engine bay and undercarriage look nicer than the body. At least, they did a month or so ago...sigh.

A warm spring day and a good washing and detailing and it'll be looking sharp-ish again

Bryan

My famliy's had more Range Rovers and BMW's with messed up rockers bc of it! oh, and NH3...Im in the NB and Dartmouth area a lot...cant say that I've seen your car though....I'm the burgandy NA w/ phonedials. We should defiantly have a get-together...I'm sad bc of the lack of BMW and Porsche events this time of the year.

I am from a place called New Berlin. Ever hear of a place called Torque Center?

Hooking up in the spring would be awesome!

Cool

I hate to see good cars aboused by the owners too, although it is tough to keep them clean this time of year. I never have fast food wrapers inside my car...Because eating inside it is OFF LIMITS!...Chewing gum...OK!

Hey guys, I just saw a 924 turbo parked in an abandoned parking lot with about 20 years of wear on it. The brakes are fully rusted. Tires are flat, paint is faded, and it's REALLY dirty. It's a 931 though, can tell from a mile away. It doesn't seem to be owned by anyone. It's just abandoned there. I feel so bad. Talk about ABUSE! I think it needs a new home. I'm going to try and get my hands on it. I wish more people could appreciate these cars for what they are.

I didn't read every word of every post on this thread, but here's my $.02.

The best thing you can do for the 944 is keep yours as pristinely clean, shiny and tires dressed at all times.

I have never seen as clean a 944 as mine on the road...and mine's not that perfect! Unless I were to meet up with you guys on this board, none of the other 944 owners out there seem to take the least pride in their ride.

Do 944's a favor and upgrade the general public's perception of them overall by keeping yours right.
