Post Electroluminecent Gauges + PICS !!

High. I'm usually in the 928 section but I have some info that might interest you guys. As you all know, the 944s gauges are almost the same as the 928s. Well, we(928 guys) got www.speedhut.com to make us custom gauges. They are now available for everyone. With only minor mods, they can be made to fit 944s and 968s. You can custom order any color, font, and reverse lighting or standard. Here is a picture of mine 83' euro 928S. I went for the "stock look". They are normal white numbers on black face. At night, the light-up a really cool blue/white. I also got the Gauge-Rings. I think the they are charging $89, but I am not sure. www.speedhut.com
If you have any ???, try a search on the 928 board.

I turned off the flash in this picture. The guage-rings can be seen better without the flash.
Also note that the needles CAN be seen with the factory front lights. I didn't even need to upgrade the bulbs.

I've replaced my bulbs with 3w, and redid the reflective coating around the light "tunnels" and got them to be somewhat brighter than stock (comparable to my 98 honda accord) and am satisfied. There's somebody on this board who offers LED conversion for 944s, he'd probably move to 928s at some point since the clusters do seem to be pretty similar. Anyway your gauges look pretty nice, specially with the funky interior. Just wanted to compliment you, and I don't compliment other people's cars often, just ask anybody that knows me!

Can we see how your 928 looks from the outside?

That gauge cluster looks great (& Bright!!!). I see the we site will do custom jobs when the number of orders reaches 20 so maybe there is now potential to get 180mph gauges for turbos.

Thanks for the post.

Cool

They look great. Thanks for the info.
You mentioned minor modifications needed for the 944. What are they and will they make them for the 951?

Looks good... Was it a simple install?
Can you change the light color with the controller they sell? And to what other colors?
Can you go back to the stock setup in the future?

I'm down for this. I'll email them and try to get a model development program started for the 944/951 dials. Who else is interested?

I just bought some Glow Gauges off ebay from ProCarParts. Have'nt arrived yet but I definately like the reverse look of the one above better. Plus, the ones I bought have MPG where the Boost should be.

Id be in if they can do away with the useless center hole/cap in the outer two gauges (see top photo) and can have a 180 MPH speedo. Also, would be ideal to have the actual status indicators tooled into the gauge face, rather than HUGE notches cut out of the top and bottom of each outer gauge like this

Weissach,
looks real nice.I suppose you have those aluminium bezels as well.If they make gauges for 951's, i would prefer the original look as your car have.
Do you know can those aluminum bezels adapted to 944 models?

In that 1st photo, how are the numerals lit? Are they backlit from behind and glowing through? Or are they themselves emitting light from the front? What kind of alien technologies allow this phenomenon? Also who, where do I call to place an order for a set of 200mph 944 Turbo gauges?

Early NAs have the reverse tach, I suppose that will need it's own development program. I think the reverse gauges are pretty nice.
