Thumbs up Farmer's Automotive, Indy, IN

All,

The past week or so, I've had lots of interaction with Bob Farmer, of Farmer's automotive out of Indy. I just wanted to make a recommendation to all of you regarding Mr. Farmer.
If you've read about the recent "saga" lately with a buddy's 944S, then you know that he made a very reasonable valve rebuild estimate of $1800. Likewise, he cracked open my car earlier this week, and corrected the mistakes another shop made with the balance shaft (out 180 deg of course...), and retensioned my t-belt... all for $75.

Anyway, it's a blast to just talk to the guy as well... very personable and a real Porsche encyclopedia. I HIGHLY recommended him!

A few years back I used to live in Terre AHute, Indiana. While scanning the classifieds, it was not uncommon to see a car advertised like so:

"1988 Porsche 911SC, 45K, white/black, farmer maintained"

I laughed the first time I saw it because I actually thought they owner was proud some "farmer" maintained it. After seeing it the second and third times, I figured there must be a shop somewhere called "Farmers". It is an odd name for a Porsche shop, for sure..
