Timing Belt: Questions about the job
Instead of concentrating on my work, I'm thinking about the upcoming T-belt & front seals job.
A few questions:
1) Do you need to lock down the camshaft to prevent it from spinning when the T-belt is off? Or does it stay put?
2) When the balance shaft belt is off, it's ok to let the balance shafts spin, right? I'll just have to ensure they're properly positioned, right?
3) Do you use Loctite Blue on the tensioner & roller nuts? I wouldn't want the nuts to bust loose.
4) I don't have the Porsche feeler tool for the balance shafts, so will a 5mm feeler gauge or drill bit do?
5) What size wrench is needed for the nuts & eccentrics?
I think that's it for now. Thanks and tgif.

1. no
2. sure, let them spin, you can align them using the marks on the pulleys later
3. good idea, better safe than sorry. Might be a good idea to use new lockwashers too.
4. yup, a 0.5mm feeler will do. Remeber that this eccentric slides as well as rotates.
5. I think it's 17mm
Would be a good idea to pick up the thin offset wrenches to hold the eccentric pulleys in place as you tighten down the nuts. Same thing for the balance-shaft pulleys. Saves quite a lot of time.
