Default Vacume pod on driver side

What is the black and tan vacume unit on the driver side firewall ( I know it has something to do with fuel vapors)? Is this valve suposed to hold vacume if you suck on it? Were can I get said valve? Mine does not hold vacume and sounds very funny when pressure is applied, did a boost leak test and this turns out to be bad.
thanks, Richard

Are you talking about the shiny gold thing in the bottom right of this picture?

I'm pretty sure that has to do with the charcoal canister vacuum system.

Edit, I need more coffee...yes, that is the fuel vapor valve for the carbon canistor.
Many here have deleted this system along with the carbon canistor which sits behind the drivers front fender liner.
A search will provide instructions on removal.

The small top port should hold vacuum and keep the valve open. The larger ports should hold vacuum with the valve closed. Sounds like you need a new valve.
