Post drains: battery box, other

I need to know where some drains are.

1. The battery box (area) drain.

2. The area adjacent to the fuse/relay box (on a 1987 944 NA). This is in the same area as the battery box, but on the drivers side of the car.

Thanks!

Tabor,

The battery box has an opening along the bottom outside edge (i.e. fender side) of the compartment. I was able to feed a tube through this and out the bottom of the chassis to serve as a vent for the battery.

As for the fuse box side, I don't know.

If I recall, on the driver's (fusebox) side it is located on the vertical divider betwen the "engine compartment" and the "Battery/fusebox" compartment a few inches from the upper framerail. It is a "flapper valve" that gets crudded up and requires periodic reaming.

Good luck!!

My battery box drain was full of old leaf crud in underneath, I had to remove the battery to clean it out with my garden hose nozzel on high.

Tabor; on the early ones its a flap on the engine firewall. On the later ones you have to remove the battery and look to the fender and bottom flat section of the battery box area where they meet.Actually it is the inner structure. These rectangular slots get plugged easily. The other side is in a similar location ,but is a tougher to get to because of the relay fuse box. Use a coat hanger to clean it out and the hose trick as was pointed out.Good luck
