My key fob right now is the lighted key head with the Porsche crest, I like it and everything, but I really like the switch thing, lol. I looked at a VW's key fob (it's the same key fob as Porsche) and the new keys are cut inner rather than cut on the edge. Is it possible for me to stick an edge cut key on the switch blade fob? Or use a blank key origanly made for the switch blade fob, and cut it on the edges?

The 993's with driveblock use a switch blade type controller with an external cut key. Not sure if you could take a 993 blank and cut it to the 944 spec or not though.

It can be done. I did it for my MK3 VW which I am trading in tomorrow for an 85+ 944! Can't wait!
But yeah, it can be done. Essentially you gut your keyfob and cut and re-solder the board so that it fits into the switchblade and wire up the buttons. I'll look for the DIY. There is a company that sells the blank key insets too. I'll hunt that down, too.

It's a silver (IDK the paint name for the Porsches) 85+ NA 944. 101k miles, fresh clutch, fresh timing belt with documentation, fresh paint, ****ty interior. I'm giving the dude 1500 bucks plus my Jetta for the car. I needed a real car. As it turns out my insurance is $600/yr cheaper with the Porsche. Go figure.
I live and work in Wilmington. I just graduated UDel Mechanical Engineering last year. The whole point of getting the 944 is not for the reliability. I can ride my bike to work. I want to apply the knowledge that I learned in Steve Timmons' class to a car that's worthy.

Thanks. This forum is so much better than the VWVortex. They all just chant "lower it" and have no clue about racecar vehicle dynamics. When you try to educate them, they're like "well it looks dope." I'm outta that scene
