How long before I fix this leak?
I've had a leak for over a year. It's coming from the oil filter housing (not the cooler). For now, it's messy, but it does not result in a major loss of oil.
I've got a quote of $700 to reseal it. That's about 100 quarts of good oil! I might tackle it myself, but it would be a quantum leap up from any job I've tackled before.
Any thoughts? Experience?

The oil filter housing is the cooler. At least on an N/A. I had a cam seal leak that showed up on the bottom of the water pump. You might want to look above the spot where you think the leak is coming from to be sure.
Oil leaks are mostly annoying, because they collect dirt and then turns into a grime. But in my case it was also touching the short coolant hose at the water pump and deteriorated that. Then in short order it started a coolant leak as well. You will have to determine if you can live with it. They rarely stop leaking!
