Post fuel pump fuse

Hey I'm going to be pulling the fuel rail tonight (in the dark.. ugh), and I was wondering where the fuel pump relay was.... the haynes book said it was under the instrument panel on the drivers side, but I could barely get down there to see anything. Is it in the box of fuses that is under the hood on the drivers side? I just need to replace the #1 injector =)

Any other advice is appreciated.

The DME relay is the one you're looking for and it's marked DME on the top, also on an 85.5 the relay box is under the hood. It's the box opposite the battery and should hare a listing on the inside of the lid. Good luck

I don't think pulling the DME relay is what you want. You want to pull the fuel pump fuse while the car is running so that the fuel rail gets depressurized. The engine will stop once the fuel rail is depressurized.

The fuse is something like #34 in the fuse box under the hood on the driver's side. It should say which one it is on the back of the fuse box cover.

That Haynes manual was talking about a pre 85.5 car.

Speaking of the fuel pump fuse, I have to share my little story:

I had my car die on me the other day on the approach to the Golden Gate Bridge. Luckily I was able to roll into the southern viewpoint and had a nice French gentlemen help me into a parking spot. As he was giving me a hand, he said "In France, we like these cars very much!" After that, I spent about ten minutes banging on the DME relay and messing with stuff till I finally got a clue and checked the fuel pump fuse, which was blown.
