Post Will the hood off an early 924 Turbo fit a 944?

Need a hood for an 83 944 and can get a early 924 hood cheap, so if anyone can answer this question, I'd appreciate it.

I'm 99 percent sure they are the same, but there's always that 1 percent.

924 Turbo hood requires modifications to fit onto the 944 Turbo, so I would assume that there are slight differences.

But I might be 99% off on that one....

It definitely fits fine with no problems. I have one on my '84 944. The only concern is if you have cruise control, as you will be venting cold air, water and road debris directly onto it. Mine quit working within about 30k of installing the hood.

The other concern is if you have adjustable Konis on the front of your car, as the adjuster on the passenger side will poke a nice hole through the NACA duct.

I have a 931 hood on my 951.
-it fits perfectly
-you will not be able to use a strut brace
-it will hit the cruise, if you have it
-it doesn't have provisions for hood struts
-it looks friggin mean
-I have adjustable cup konis, which fit ONLY
because they are mounted to camber plates
-it will cool your battery nicely

How can it hit the cruise?? Its got to be at least 3 inches behind the opening of the Naca duct. I can take pictures, if you'd like. The cruise on my '84 944 and '86 951 are mounted in the same spot. I can also show you the hole in the NACA duct where the adjuster hit from the PO running Koni's, altho there may be a difference in Koni's that I am unaware of.

SH - are you responding to me? I capitalized the word ONLY to highlight the fact that it doesn't hit my Koni's because they sit lower with CAMBER PLATES. Also - I should have said that the airstream (and water stream) will hit the cruise, sorry for the confusion. I think it looks good on my car.

Didn't hit the cruise OR M030 Konis on my car.

I had to modify the rear bracing to clear the ventilation fan assembly, did you guys not have to?

Also, I had to replicate the factory's 6-inch crimped areas along the rearmost edge to clear the wipers - you guys didn't have any problems with that?

Keith - the back of my hood clears the windshield wiper by about .0000000000000000000001 inch.

Isn't THAT just like Porsche - every friggen piece is different!

So no problems on the fan assembly back there?

I still have to tidy up Ian's 931 hood, and am thinking about putting my spare one on my current ride at the same time...

No problems at all on mine. Everything cleared and fit just like it should have, in my opinion. Weird to hear all these other fitment problems.

Special tool, yeah, I was talking to you, but you cleared up my confusion, thanks!
