I don't think $8500 is over the top either (I've seen 100k 86 turbos go for over $10k with minimal mods). Of course, maybe the minial mods is what helped the price.... I know when I was looking, I'd offer FAR less for a modified car than for a stocker. In my world, if you modify a car (and it's not saftey or general upgrade.. like fuel lines, or Koni yellows) - it detracts from the price. The buyers who feel like I do usually have a little more money to spend though, and tend to buy the cars that meet their needs (not the cars that they can afford).

In anycase, if your reserve is $7~7500 you should sell the car without issue.

Unless they've had body work, these cars don't like to rust anyway. The benefits of a galvanized body are fantastic, and I would walk away from any 944 with even a hint of rust. I smile when people use the term "southern" car as a selling point for a 944 b/c that just means it'll have a better chance for a more faded interior, hood, roof, etc

Grommit you should get the car repainted, the lights fixed, and then turn around and sell your car for 12,000. You can get an 800 dollar paintjob that looks like it's 2000. I got mine for 800 and they mixed the clear coat and paint together. It looks great, but I never stripped the car down. But, in my opinion I would love to have a turbo. But thats only a wish that won't come true for a poor college boy

The price may be fine ... depends on the buyer and how the car actually drives/performs. I totally agree that I'd rather have a car with great mechanicals but need some relatively minor body work than a car that looks perfect but needs a lot of mechanical work.
The other part of the equation when looking for a buyer is the amount of modifications that have been done to the car. Every modification done tends to narrow the size of the possible buyers and you cannot assume the cost of the mods to you will equate to an equally higher price of the car. I would rather have a slightly modified car or stock over a modified one simply because you are never really sure if the mods were done correctly or what exactly was modified.
GOod luck with the sale.

I totaly agree with the Mods statement.. I do have to say that the mods done to this car were done right. Most of it was done by Wolfrpi before I got it .. I calmed it down in the mod department to what it is now. I agree that mods can be a pain in the butt but we are talking pretty standard stuff here. Koni Yellows is basicly the MO30 Option. The Linsey wastegate is a modified stock unit. The Mods were done right.. as for the way the car handles and go's it runs great I have a problem keeping the needle to the left of 100mph. The cornering ability is beyond my guts abiltiy to push it that far. It's a nice setup.

i saw those on a black 951 someone posted a while back. i looked all over the place, and they are forgelines. at least they look like it. they make a wheel that looks better in my opinion. same basic shape, but light, and they dont have the center caps, just the exposed bolt pattern. really sharp i think

It looks like a clean car in real good shape. I think that is a fair price to be asking... IMHO.

They are forgelines they have been made with the correct offset for pre 87 944's 17 8.5 in the front 17 9.5 in the rear. If the car dosn't sell I'm going to ebay them off and sell the car for less. If anyone is intrested here is the deal

$6500 less tires wheels and stereo ( I'll leave the speakers )

Thanks
Matt

yeah, it's great overall, but that paint is really going to kill your selling price... nice car overall though, i'd drive it.

I'll tell you what I found out about selling on ebay. I recently sold my modded '86 951. Most looking on ebay want a perfect looker. You will never get over $5,000 as it is. Nobody on ebay cares about the suspension mods or engine mods. They add nothing to the price of the car in my experience. The miles will also screw you on ebay.

The people replying here that the price is not that far off know what it costs to run these cars. It is a totally different world.

My old car had a stiffer suspension set-up, lowered and corner balanced, all professionally done. I put the engine back to stock but it did have a recent full head job and widefire/o-ring. The car had 86k miles on it total. The body was fair with some dings and scratches. I also had cryo rotors, track pads, two sets of wheels and 8 good tires, recaro SRD drivers seat, harness bar and harness', cat bypass and original. I had records from day one. Arguably more car, I did get $8500 eventually, not on ebay.

Just consider ebay as good advertising. If you want to get $7500 or more you will have to wait. It is going to take the right buyer. I think I would paint it myself. Good luck
