Maybe I missed where you explained this, but why didn't you paint the valance under the front bumper orange like the rest of the car? It doesn't look quite right being black.

I just rattle canned the front valence because it's beat to all hell with tons of chips. So I decided not to repair it since it'll be replaced by a CGT front end in a few months.
As far as wheels go I've got a set of 15x7 BBS RA's, but I might look for some 16's or 17's. I'd like to find some early offset speedline replicas.

HAHA I made flat black GTi in Forza too. It looks great in my opinion, but I'm not sure how the paint will hold up in the elements. I've seen pictures of flat black cars after a year or so and they look like ***.
Sorry: back on topic. To the OP, the car looks great man. I agree some wheels and tires would really make it look complete though.
I plan on painting my car with rollers over the winter break. Glad to see DIY paint jobs look good on these bodies.

I didn't read your post, just looked at the pics. I thought it looked fantastic. Then I read the posts talking about rustoleum... I can't believe it looks that good!!!

looks good although i'd highly recommend putting some kind of clearcoat/sealant over it
when I bought my car, it had been the victim of some attempts at DIY bodywork (which iddn't look as good as yours anyway). I say victim because the front fender had peeled entirely, revealed a rust red primer coat that looked an awful lot like, well, a giant rust problem

Very good job. I have to say, I like it. Orange is such a hard color to make appeal with. Too bright, and people will mistake your car for a construction marker. Too dark and it looks more brownish, or messed up bronze. I'm a big fan of the metallic oranges like Sunburst Orange (Pontiac). This would look absolutely great with a light amount of metal flake or pearl mixed in the top coat. Just to capture the light and contrast the curves, corners and edges.

Is it just an optical/photographic illusion, or are the front wheels/tires LARGER than the ones in back?
Do you get any rubbing in the front?
++1 on that color for that car! Neat and artistic settings for the photos. The car matches the leaves!

Tires are the same size...but they are HUGE! Stock size is supposed to be 205/60R15 while the PO had 205/65R15 on the car. They don't rub or anything but it does look like a 4x4. It'll be fixed shortly though
As far as the side markers go I was just going to smoke mine myself.
