What to pay for an 87 944S
I recently sold my 86 951 due to lack of funds but have found I cannot live without a 944
So I've been looking for a NA and have run across a 87S. Orig.owner, all records, all maint. up to date including belts and the cam chain, completely stock even down to radio. Only problem is it has 150k miles on it. He's asking 7500 which seems quite steep to me, almost S2 territory.
What's it worth?

I'd say about $6000-6795.
With all records, AND the Tensioner already done, than this car is being taken care of by someone who knows their stuff (obviously) and that car should be a great one to get.
We all know 150,000 isn't a whole bunch and if he is the original owner - that's even better. This car sounds like it's been well taken care of.

As always, there is no simple answer to this question.
It depends on so many factors.
If the guy was a purist, he kept the car in meticulous condition, and recently did thousands of dollars worth of service...the car is probably worth that or more.
If he was an assclown, and bought a perfect car and dogged the **** out of for 40k miles, and now its a timebomb, waiting to explode on some poor clueless bastard...you see my point?
Its complicated. It could be worth $10,000 or worth $2,000.
Do a search, read up on threads like this, which pop up about three times a week, and learn what to look for. Pay for a PPI. Dont grab the first one.
I bought my Turbo with LSD and Fuchs for $4800, but I had to put a clutch in, tires, and it blows a lot of oil by under WOT. I still feel like it was a steal. But I had the cash at the time to look for a car that was right. I just couldnt wait!

We just paid $3250 for an 87 924S in damn near perfect condition. All records and drives like a dream.
I think you can do better, mine even has fewer miles.

lets try this again...
Hey Dude...
My 87 944S was purchased two and a half years ago for 4500 bucks. Leather, a/c, etc. Had all papers and bill of sale (original). Have replaced clutch and goodies, torque tube, pads, rotors turned (carefully), speakers, steering wheel covering, Need new leather on seats, but it was not fully split when purchased. Replaced all belts, rollers and tensioner (chain). Full engine rebuild by first owner (I am third owner). AC and odo just went out so that will be more fun. No advice 'cept to give it careful look-see, check papers and know what these things may cost in your area. I understand it can vary from locale to locale.
Good Luck!!!
Have A SSSSSSSSSSuper Experience!!!
