Question Window problems

My power window on my 1987 944T hesitates or jerks as it goes up or down. It also does not seal into the top of the door and falls back down an inch or so if it is raised to the top.

Is this the motor or the window regulator? Anybody know for sure? Also how difficult is replacement of these parts? I replaced a broken window by myself once and it was a pain, but doable. How do I know which part I need?

Thanks for any help.

I had a window acting up and when I took the door panel off, ALL the bolts that hold the power window motor to the door were about ready to fall out. The window still worked pretty well though. Check your bolts.

Thanks to both of you. Jayw, I tightened all the bolts already. Actually, I thought maybe the adjustment of one of them could be off per some previous postings.

Krystar, the tab sounds like an interesting possibility. Is it on the end of the window regulator? If so, are there two, one on each end? I'll look at it first thing tomorrow. I have some help (family), so I'll probably be able to get it done. But if not, I'll call upon you if it's okay.

Thanks for the help. I'll come back when I have more info.
