Post anyone actually like 924/old 944 dash?

why is it that everyone prefers the 85.5 dash and gauges so much compared to the early 944 or 924 dash?

i have driven both, and I like both, but there is something about the old style dash that makes it so retro and so cool! it could be the reverse tach, but who knows.

i am buying a 84 coupe, so maybe i am biased, but i just prefer the old style dash over the new one. anyone else feel the same way?

I'll stick up for the old dash too, you don't see many of them in great shape, but I do like the look.

Jenson's a great cars, they are coming back too (or so an article in autoweek awhile ago said).

I dig it, it may be outdated and quirky but it gets major nostagia points.

I like it too. I had an 84, I can't explain it but it feels more like it sports car than the new dash. A bit dated but very cool.

I have an '87 S now and I miss the feel when I get into the car.

I too prefer the old style dash. The newer dash makes the car seem bigger on the inside and not quite as cozy. I love the feel and look of my '82 interior....

I actually got to see one up close for the first time the other day--and it wasnt as bad as I thought. Very "old sports car" looking.

That said, I love my newer interior with it's better air flow, and higher steering wheel!

PS--A LOT of the newer sporty cars are moving back to the round guage clusters....

PPS--Michael--that is one CLEAN looking '82!!

i am glad there are some people who agree with me!

one thing i did notice though is that the steering wheel is too low! but oh well, i will probably be swapping it out for a MOMO.

I didn't at the time, but now I do - I really like the early dash. It seemed more like a race car. I do like the updated dash, but the old seemed tighter, more like a cockpit. Just MHO.

btw, is there any way to remove the inner piece of the arm rest to turn it into a storage bin for sunglasses, etc? Mine has the cassete tape holder and it's worthless to me. Is it hollow under that armrest or does someone do a conversion for it to storage?

I just bent the fold-down flaps and poped them out. It's a nice bit of extra storage. --Roy--

I have a buddy with an 83, I like the tach mainly because of the unconventional movement. I do however prefer my 86 style dashboard, especially the curve as you go from driver to passenger. I don't like the little ***** on my 86 compared to the big climate ***** on the old style, I will take climate control however.

I like my early dash as well. Only thing I don't like about it is you don't have a tilt steering wheel.
