Maybe I'm biased but I love the early one, I've driven in both and the early just has a bit more character than the late.

Cool

I too love my early Dash. It just feels right when you sit in and drive. Everything is where I need it. JMO....

I like my 85.5 dash, but I understand it's a subjective thing. Problem with the early model is that the cluster reminds me of a,,,Chevette,,,EEWWW

you can't, on any years. But the wheel is a little higher on late models.

I really like the old dash as well. I like mine more so because I have white guage faces and a MOMO steering wheel, so it looks very classic/european. My female friends tell me my car looks like it should be in a spy movie or something.

I like it - I am of course biased - but I have always had a fondness for instrument pods.

The way it was designed to change shape over time and develop coin holders for parking meters was thoughtful

If you ignore the steering wheel running over the middle of it, you can see that the tach starts at the right side and winds clockwise through the bottom of the guage and redlines on the left side. Quite cool really.

I do like the later dash but it is less sporty than the older style. Very similar to some of the 90's Cadillac sweeping dashboards, eh?

Uh...I'm not really seeing any old dashes...My gauges are yellow on black, and my center console is silver.

Were there more than two dash styles or is this an interior option?

Sorry, the pic is of the dash of my 87 924S. It's the same layout but the gauges were updated to white on black, from the earlier yellow (or green, I've heard both). It was toned down in the S cars and became more "corporate Porsche" in its details, ie: black plastic and the aforementioned gauge colouring.

I guess the answer is, yes, there were two versions of the early style dash.

I want the old dash ! How do I convert?

J/K I like them both, but wouldn't go through the trouble of converting it.
