weight of 15 inch phone dials?
#3
15x7 phone dials are a surprisingly light: 18lbs. The lightest, Fuchs, are 13lbs. All the rest are heavier AFAIK. 15x8 are 5lbs heavier than 7s.
If you are thinking what I think you are: Yokohamas AVIs 215/60/15 (stock) are 25.6lbs. The Yokos A032R 225/50/15 are 22.8lbs. Kumhos 225/50/15 Victor Race 22lbs. With the last two you also lower the overall diameter by 5% and get a correspondingly increase in torque, thus acceleration. It also lowers car by about half an inch.
For autoX: the best, IMHO, are Kumhos 205/50/15 (20lbs) all around. You'll increase torque by 10% (acceleration) and lowers the car by one inch. Also, without changes to suspension you get less weight transfer, due to lower COG. Don't forget that unsprung weight is equivalent to ten times the sprung.
Lower patch area can be compensated with a good differential. And just like that, you'll blow the rest from your class out of the water. May need to upshif in straighaways, but well worth it. Also with the gear advantage you could go faster in third than in stock set-up in second. Has to be long straight though.
What a big gulp for a small request! <img src="graemlins/drink.gif" border="0" alt="[cherrsagai]" />

I guess they don't make them anymore?

Not since 1986 - but, there are some aftermarket replicas out there... most are not forged, and not nearly as light. You can get custom wheels made with Fuchs centers - but, bring yur checkbook

I don't have my mind set on Fuchs but they must be light and 16", what can I get for a decent price? <=weight of the 15" phone dials?

I thought you had a 88? If so, Fuchs aren't for you anyway - they are only available in early offset (again, unless custom).
While not as light - the 928 sewer lids were forged and relatively light - they should be an easy find for ~$500. Otherwise, you're looking at 20-22 lbs per wheel with the 16" Design 90's - or for more moola (~$700) - the Turbo Cup wheels (looks like D-90, but are forged, ~$1000 - but a rare find)

You may find some that have been sitting in a dealer's stock, I see ads for NOS once in a while. IIRC, list is $923 for a 16x7, $967 for a 16x8,

Is this per wheel?

Yes I do have an 88. I want some really light wheels, I don' tknow how they do it but rota makes some 16 inch wheels that are around 15 lbs that are only ~$600 new a set. They probably don't fit porsches though and most aren't htat great looking (some are ok though).
And how about these $1100 18" - 15.5lbs - I was thinking typo but my friend swears it's not. I don't know how it's even possible. I thought Fiskes FM's weighed more than that and cost $4500!

oh here's the rota's I was talking about <a href="http://www.machiii.net/machiii/html/wheels/Rota_Slipstream.html" target="_blank">http://www.machiii.net/machiii/html/wheels/Rota_Slipstream.html</a>
only 13.5 for a 16" wheel!!!!
