Default Max Spacer Size without changing studs?

Can I run a 7 or 8 mm spacer without new studs?

I picked up a set of Speedlines with rear 20mm offsets. My current setup has 12mm rear offsets. New wheels would look much better another 7-8mm's out.

Tifo, where are you?

I would definitely want at least 6 threads of engagement, not sure of whats possible though as I always use bolt-on spacers.

7mm is fine, any longer and it is recommended to change studs.
