makeshift koni adjuster?

im pretty sure i have the koni adjustables up front, but i dont have the adjusting tool. will sticking an allen wrench in there work or is it more complex than that?

Doesn't sound like you have the adjustables, at least not any I've seen - the usual Koni adjustable struts have a small blade-like adjuster that protrudes from the top of the shaft.
Some strut/inserts take an allen wrench to hold the shaft so the retaining nut can be tightened - that sounds more like what you're describing.
Maybe someone else has seen adjustables that take a hex tool?

You have the early Koni adjustables - they must be removed and adjusted. The Allen on top is simply to hold the shaft while torquing the top nut. For more info, try here:
