Has anyone here ever had any reliablity problems? I mean as far as, driving down the road and the car just died or something to that effect. Or perhaps the car just wouldnt start. In other words how reliable are these things.thanks

I've discovered that there's two types of 944:

1] One that has been properly maintained for it's entire life. This is a car that is a joy to own and drive. Your chances of breaking down in this car are slim to none, provided you continue the tradition of good maintenance that this car demands.

2] One that has been abused and beat on for it's entire life. This car can feel loose, slow or worse. This car is also super expensive to maintain because you're trying to make up for previous owner's laxness. Your chances of at some point breaking down in this car are fairly high.

Try to guess which of the two I own.....

I'm fairly new to p-cars, but have never had such a problem. With that said, there are some folks who have, and have reported such on this board - Getting lots of assistance from other rennlisters. One thing that I picked up early was to carry a spare DME/Fuel Pump relay in the glove box at all times. Seems these are susceptible to internal corrosion and can shut you down on the road. Best $20 insurance you can buy. Also, search the board (or other posts which I am sure will follow) regarding corrosion, especially of the ground leads to the battery. Keeping ground wires in good shape will alleviate a lot of problems, large and small. And folks like IceShark have come up with solutions which beat the Porsche original equipment hands down.

Good luck with your purchase, and post some pics when you get yours.

Tom
