Post Tell Your 944na Selling Story

I'm considering selling my na. Haven't yet decided whether to replace her with a 951, 911 or Truck (I need one). I'll be back in a Porsche soon. Both my kids graduate college soon and I'll be hunting a 951, SC, or possibly buying my girlfriend's TT (she needs out and I'm offered a killer deal).

I know I will not get the $$ I've got into it. It's an '87, Guards Red/Black. New T-Belts, Hoses, Brakes, Clutch, Motor Mounts, AC, Tires, Throttle Cam, K&N, Stereo/speakers, H4's, Refinished Phonedials. Paint is as perfect as 15 years old gets.

Like most of your cars, mine's the nicest 944 I've ever seen "on the road" unless I go to a gathering of, well? you guys!

What did you get for yours? Where did you advertise? How long did it take? I assume only someone SPECIFICALLY looking for a 944 knows that T-Belts, Motor mounts, AC, etc are costly common issues that this one doesn't have and so it is worth extra bucks. They won't know that this one is truly "done" and most other cheapo $3K ones will need lots of repair/refurb. Ideas/Suggestions?

P.S. Yes, it's possible I'll just keep her if the alternative is a giveaway price.

I'd sell it to one of your kids for a good price, use the money to buy a 951. Don't get the TT .. they're fine cars, but .. they're chick cars. No flame wars.

I sold my pristine 88 924S by showing up with it
at a PCA concours event with for sale signs.
I took second place in the concours and sold the
car to a good home: another clean car nut.

Hi Dan!

Email me additional specs (anything power, like doors and steering, etc.?), and what you'd like for it. I do live out here in Southern Cal, so not that far away.

And I'll ignore that "Chick car" comment. Not all of us drive wussy cars, boys. I once ate a Mustang Saleen for lunch on an onramp on the 405 in my '85 944 NA (fool didn't realize he would have passed me in the long run). First time I'd seen a grown man cry!

I had my first 1987 944 n/a for 5 months. Then one day someone put a note on my windshield wipers saying that they have a 1986 944 Turbo that he needs to get rid of. I called him up and saw the car. The car was a little neglected but the exterior and interior were almost perfect. The car had an overboost problem wich was just a faulty boost controller. Anyways when I took the test drive of the turbo it was like a day and night difference. Whew! The turbos are so much faster and the suspesion is firmer. When I drove back with my 944 n/a is when I noticed it big time, the n/a has no acceleration whats so ever compared to the turbo. Anyways I sold the N/A asap, and got the turbo. Ever since that day I have created an addiction of MORE POWER and MORE BOOST. You just can't beat the performance of the Turbos. Tuning possibilities are endless.
