"Tom Charlesworth (head of PCA technical comittee) 918-664-8714 I memorized his number because I call him with so many questions, and he doesnt seem to mind them. By far the nicest, most knowledgeable person I have ever met concerning 944's."
I must agree, hell of a nice guy, along with George from 944 Ecology. 944 owners seem to be the most helpful group of auto owners I've ever met, and these two are the pinnacle of that.

Have you had you torque tube checked? The bearings are spaced to dampen harmonic vibrations in the driveshaft. If one is really, really bad, I have been told that this is a possible symptom. They don't always make noise when they go bad. The tube we took out of Ian's car is quiet, but there is at least one bad bearing in there.

FIXED. You're not going believe this. I had an aftermarket exhaust, and when I put the stock pipe back on, the problem WENT AWAY!!! At least I ended up with new stuff. Somehow, the aftermarket pipe started a vibration that must have "propagated" up the drivetrain. !?

I also wonder why everyone hates the rubber centered stock clutches, when they last 100k miles in most cases!?
If/when I need a new clutch, I am going stock all the way!
