Post need help with bolt size asap

I’m replacing both rear axle assemblies in my 944 Saturday morning and I need to find the bolts that hold these assemblies in.

I got the 8mm 12 point tool I need, but I want to get replacement bolts and need to know what size to get? Local auto parts stores have these 12 point head bolts in stock but in all different lengths.

The local VW dealer also has CV bolts in stock for 80’s rabbits and I’ve heard they are the same.

Time is an issue so I need to find something local…just hoping someone can give me the right size or maybe the VW part number for the equivalent.

Thanks!

ps. How may per side 12 or 16?

You will need 6 per CV joint assuming you removed both 1/2 shafts you will need 24 of these.

I am not sure which VW car they are from, but you can try to give them the following part number.

893.407.237 and see what happens.

These should run about $0.50-$0.60 per bolt.

Make sure you use loctite to hold them in to prevent them from backing out.
