I have Procar seats in my 1987-944S,they are a sport style with the holes in the back and the sides for a 5 point harness, they are black cloth with reclining backs, very comfortable.I purchased them off E-Bay for around $700.00 with the sliders.I am thinking of selling my car,if you are interested in the seats send me a private e-mail. <img src="graemlins/beerchug.gif" border="0" alt="[cheers]" />

I installed the Sparco Torino in this friends 964:

- they are very comfortable, and have fold/recline ability - NOT considered a racing seat, though. Racing seats must have a fixed back... but, if you're not racing it doesn't matter - makes a great street, DE, autocross, rally seat.

Sparco also offers the higher-priced Milano which includes more seat controls and a finer finish of Leather or Alcantra.

Good Luck!

im just using them for autocross and thinking about DE next year, i want them because i just ordered a redline rollbar and when i install my harnesses i dont think around the stock seats is the best way for the sholder belts.

Question

Skip,
Is the install about the same for a 944/951 as compared to the 964.

I like the Sparco line.

Very nearly - here's a link to that specific application:

i was considerering the sparcos when i was in the market for seats a while back. i stopped by my local speed shop and walked out with the recaro srds for the same price. the srds are not as wide as the sparcos, so they work well with my semi thin frame. also, the support in slightly different places, and if i remember correctly, the sparcos dont have as big of a thigh bolster. the srds are soooo comfortable though, let me tell you! another thing you might want to consider as well, recaros are actually made by porsche, sparcos are not, guess which ones bolt right up to the stock sliders

take care guys

I just ordered one too. I guess you were the third John was talking about, apparently he now has enough orders to start the batch. I think I may drive upstate to pick it up, and save $100 shipping. Maybe we can do a group run.

As for the seats, I've been doing some research and at the moment I'm leaning towards the Momo Cup. Price dependent they seem to be the highest quality. But I will need to test drive one before I make the final decision. Personally, I would stay away from Corbeau, as I haven’t heard anyone talk positively about them.

Good Luck

driving up there to pick it up would be good, but my porsche is off the road with no plates or insurance until next summer...

momo cup have a fixed back right? i really want to keep the reclining ability. i guess i need to stop sitting online and go to some stores tomorrow afternoon so i can actually see the seats. i like those corbeau seats because there is a wide version and i am a big guy

i have been talking to him about the roll bar for a while and i finally decided that the extra money (roll bar vs. harness bar) was worth it for safety equipment. glad to hear he has enough to start a batch now i cant wait!

I have the Corbeau Carrera seats, which are about half the price of the Sparco Milano's but look identical. I think it's the same seat (made in Mexico), just with a different label. It's very comfortable, swings forward, and is good for driving long distances. It's not a full racing seat, and it doesn't have a sub-belt hole, so I run the sub-belt around the front, where it rests on one of the seat frame tubes. I also have the Redline roll-bar, and overall it's a good set-up for street and Driver Ed. The most important part is that it has the shoulder strap slots. It's not a racing set-up, but I tried the Corbeau racing seat, drove it around the block, and decided I couldn't live with it day to day. I'd recommend the Corbeau Carrera. The only problem was modifying the mount to get it to sit low enough; the original Corbeau mounts are fairly high, and my head was too close to the roof.

Just some clarifications...

- Recaro makes seats for Porsche under a third-party contract, and has for quite some time (1974, I think).

- Sparco seats are made in Italy, along with Momo, OMP, and others. While they may look similar, Corbeaus are not the same seat.
