Post Wheel/Tire Fitting Question

I was watching part of a TV show on TNN this weekend. They installed 255's on an 8-inch wide wheel. I have the 928-type dish wheels, in 7/8x16. Currently running 245s, will 255's in fact fit the wheel?

It was one of those American 'Hot Rod' shows, so they may have said one thing and meant another...

Robert,
If you look on the specs section of www.tirerack.com you will see that most manufacturers recommend a 8.5" to 10" rim for 255 tyres. On an 8" rim you will probably be overtyred, but I think you would have a hard time getting 255 in 16" anyway

Ahh true true. Just thought it was interesting what I saw on the show. They must of meant 8.5.

I currently have 255/50 Toyo Proxy RA-1's on my factory PD's that are 16X8. They fit and work well, but if I had not bought the tires used I would not have put a 255 on that wheel.
