I'm about to replace the timing belt and tensioner on my 84 944. I bought the tensioner from a mail-order parts place, not from Porsche.
The part I just received is made by Ruville (German), and it references what I think is the correct current Porsche part number (944.105.027.04). My original part was 944.105.127.03.
I was surprised at two differences between my original tensioner and the part I just got:
1) The adjustment nut is 27mm, not 23mm like my original. Is the current Porsche provided tensioner now 27mm also?
2) The new part has plastic teeth. The original part had steel teeth, and even looks like it could be disassembled and repacked. The original has a much more serious look and feel to it. Is the current Porsche part also plastic?
So:
Does anyone know if this Ruville part is OE quality in all regards? If not, do I need to get my tensioner from Porsche to get my confidence up?
Thanks
