My sunroof panel on my 87951 had a nice crack in it, so I pulled the one off the parts car (86951). That panel was made in 2000, and has a yellow insulator where mine had nothing. When I went to put it back together, the insulator seemed to put some pressure against the headliner, and I ended up tearing one of the holes on the side. Did the later cars all have this insulator? Was the later headliners made differently to accommodate for the insulator? I'd like to keep the insulator in place, if possible.
I'm trying to decide what to do with my headliner. I haven't been able to find an aftermarket headliner and I'm thinking about putting a layer of fiberglass on mine and wrapping it over the edges to reinforce the mounting points. I've also considered just painting the underside of the sunroof panel black and leaving the headliner off of it. New OEM headliners are available, but at over $300 for one, it's not something I want to replace just to have it break again. I freaking hate how much pressboard Porsche used in these cars!![Mad](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/mad.gif)
What have others done? I didn't find much doing a search

944online. I've yet to call Sunset. I wish someone made a molded plastic version. I tried covering my original one with a layer of fiberglass, and I think I can make it work, but I'm not terribly happy with it. It's been a fairly low priority since the car is still in pieces and I need a whole new headliner.
