Post So embarrassing......

I was viewing...... with barf bag.... the Cayenne photos from the LA Car show web site, and then started browsing the Volkswagen photos when.... SURPRISE!...... there's the Cayenne with stock V-8 N/A motor, and a much nicer looking front end, with VW marque for...$20,000.00 less!?!?!? Same SUV? Same interior? Same horsepower on stock motors? Same damn car for TWENTY THOUSAND-FRICKING-DOLLARS!?!? And a better looking (non-"Fugly" grill) vehicle, too? Afraid so.

OhmyGod... what was Porsche thinking? Did they really under-estimate our American intelligence THAT much?

Check it out, folks. It's really embarrassing!

Huh! What do ya know! Well I guess I overestimated the average American intellect.

Go Porsche! Sell tons of 'em, take the profits and get back to the serious business of building race cars!

I heard they are producing 25,000 the first year, yet they have 30,000 solid orders already. You do the math.

Didn't they learn from the huge debates over the 924 and 944 about being a real Porsche, this will be a new can of worms. I can see it now.

Does this look like a racecar?

<img src="http://boards.rennlist.com/upload/Porsche597.jpg" alt=" - " />

Not at all, it was a vehicle Porsche over-designed in the late 50's for the military and wound up selling to the public. A fellow in my PCA region owns a few of them and had a brief article about them in last months Panorama.

We have had to endure whining about new models ever since the 60's when the first 911 came out. 356 owners hated that; a true Porsche had 4 cylinders after all.

I loved it when the Boxster cam out. Not only was it water-cooled but it was mid engine as well. Trouble is most folks forget that many Porsche factory race cars from the early 70's on where both water cooled (in part) and mid engine.

Frankly I see the Cayenne as a perfect contender for the Paris to Dakar.

And don't forget Porsche used to build tractors, and diesel tractors at that.

The Cayenne will sell like hotcakes. I expect many will soon be parading up and down Avenue Road here in Toronto, and soon after they will be on their way to Quebec with hot licence plates on them.
