For those who know, a question.. A friend needs a new KLR for his 89 951. Is the "non S" KLR the same? I know the S's have a different DME, but I wasn't sure about the little box. Also, If anyone has a 88 944 Turbo S or 89 944 Turbo KLR for sale, OR a non S KLR if they are the same, let me know.
TIA
Dan P
PS..don't ask why he needs a new KLR

I've swapped older 24-pin chip boxes and vice versa, wih no ill effects.
Heard the later 28-pin boxes have faster processing capability, as the proms are of later and faster quality.
Even heard the extra four pins are not even utilized.
Own a '87 951 that had a bad DME and it was replaced by a dealer by the PO and the Bosch remanufactured unit was a new 28 pin type.
The instruction programmed in the S chips should have compensation for richer mixture though, due if to nothing else, the increase in the turbo size...
Cheers
