Post 90 944S2 Air Filter

I was wondering if anyone could list the directions for replacing the air filter on this car. It looks like a fair amount of work just to change the filter.

Yeah, I have a 90 S2. I have not changed the filter yet buy I know you have to take off the header panel with the crest on it. then under there is an airbox with clamps. Not easy but I don't think it's super hard. I think Paragon has a tech session on it on their website.

Instructions are on my web site in the "How-To" section. The header panel needs to come off. You can also go <a href="http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/4475/Porsche/airboxmod.html" target="_blank">here</a> for pictures.

That was probably my website...

<a href="http://jgriff.freeservers.com/airfilters.htm" target="_blank">AMSOIL Air Filters</a>

Funny that you mention it... I'm going to be putting an AMSOIL filter in my S2 this weekend!! <img src="graemlins/jumper.gif" border="0" alt="[jumper]" />

(Note: AMSOIL does not have a stock part number for the S2; being a dealer, I measured my airbox and found one within their line of special order filters that should fit fine. I'll let everyone know how it goes, and will post some pics on my website.)

Hope that helps.

What is the difference between the AMSOIL and K&N? Guess I am a rookie in the air filter department.

thanks...

Basically, the K&N is an oil-wetted gauze, whereas the AMSOIL is an oil-wetted foam.

From my understanding, both flow the same amount, but the K&N lets more dirt through.

Price-wise, the AMSOIL is often a bit less expensive.

There is some more info at the URLs that I posted above.

Hope that helps.

Jim
