Just sent the guy an e-mail telling him that I was very interested in the car but had a couple of questions.
Can't wait to see if he replies!

Ha HA!
-voice of Nelson Muntz

Nelson Muntz (voiced by [Nancy Cartwright]) is the school bully. Though taking delight in inflicting pain to the others in school, he is not usually cruel. Famous for saying "HA ha!" when making fun of someone.

since the auction is now dead, one of you guys who saw it should post who the seller was so everyone can keep an eye out for him...

I think it was mega_speed_force or something very similar. I wouldn't count on seeing this guy again though, so I'm not sure what you would look out for.

I think this user id was created specifically for this sale. He had a feedback rating of 0.

Just be careful out there, and never buy a car without the VIN.

Several of us over at forums.rennlist.com have been following this auction and several of us believe it might be a scam.

This is the auction in question:
<a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?View" target="_blank">http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?View</a> Item&item=1828668509

There are several reasons for this:

1. This is not a turbo, contrary to what the auction claims. This can be seen by several indications, all of which are apparent to anyone even slightly familiar with these cars. First of all it does not bear the turbo badge next to the 944 above the rear bumper. Second, the 944 turbo has a completely different front end. Third, the engine bay depicted is simply not a turbo.

2. This is not a 1986 model. The dash shown was only produced up to 1985. From mid way through 1985 until the end of the model's production there was a totally different dash. The car show is in fact a 1983 model. The pictures shown struck several of us as oddly familiar. After a little searching we found exactly the same speaker system on this Rennlist thread. Do a search for tsw427.
<a href="http://forums.rennlist.com/forums/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_t" target="_blank">http://forums.rennlist.com/forums/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_t</a> opic&f=15&t=006501

3. The tsw427 from the previous thread, which states that the car is a 1983, also has a web-page with several pictures of the same car:
<a href="http://www.sounddomai" target="_blank">http://www.sounddomai</a> n.com/id/porsche_9_4_4

So in short the seller knows nothing about this car. He has not responded as of yet to questions about the mistake in model year or the missing turbo. The seller has a 0 rating, has set no reserve, and could have very easily have simply copied these photographs from the previously mentioned website. Add to this the fact that no VIN was given and several of us are very suspicious.

It seems like all the indications point towards this being a scam.

With all that said, we don't know for sure that it is, but I thought perhaps someone in E-Bay might be interested in this. I would hate to have noticed all these incongruities and said nothing.

I guess I'm suggesting that someone seriously look into this, but not to act too rashly, as there is the outside chance this person has only exagerated (although quite a bit) in their descriptions of the vehicle.

All in all I think having the auction taken off was probably the best result we could have expected. Kudos to everyone here. Just when you think Rennlist couldn't get any cooler, we become crime fighters.

Maybe next we'll develop super powers. I want mine to be the ability to make red lights green.

Cheers!

The rennlist community VS the scumbags community. I haven't gotten ripped off on E-bay yet, I get the opinion only guys who aren't too bright try to pull scams on it.

thanks for all the help, the aution is off ebay now, i think the seller was Mega_fast_speed, he probly just made the name for that sell tough.

i would have liked to see how much my car would have gone for though.

to all you saying there were two diffent wheels and red lenses:

thoses were my old wheels (sitting in my garage if anyone wants to buy them)

and the red lenses are photo shop, i was playing around with it one day. the license plate was also photo shop

once again thanks for all the help

Well it was me who found the sale on ebay.

<a href="http://forums.rennlist.com/forums/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic&f=15&t=006552" target="_blank">http://forums.rennlist.com/forums/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic&f=15&t=006552</a>

The reason i was so vague in my questions is that I didn't want to outright accuse someone until I got a response. I knew it would eventually surface what the facts were when everyone got involved.

I'm a habitual lurker/surfer always looking for descrepancies (sp*) and I'm glad I could help out. I'm new to this board but I've read nearly every thread on it and it has help me out tremendously with repairs on my three n/a's.

Good looking out everyone that pitched in, that's one of the best things about this board I like, everyone is always helping out.

Good job everybody and remember I'm always watching.
