can best japanese supercar beat porsche?
Now that there are so many japanese and american automakers still trying to immitate the origianl 944 designs, what do you guys think the best ever japanese supercar or GT car ever made?
I say the Acura NSX, followed by 94-95 Supra twin turbo, 95 rx7, and recently the honda s2000.

Does it have to have been offered for sale in the US?? Remember we never got the best of Japan just like we never got the Porsche GT1, McLaren F1, 911 GT3, etc....
Nissan Skyline
Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VII
Subaru Impreza WRC (Full WRC Spec not WRX)
There are probably some more as well....

i say the R34 skyline or the supra TT are the best japanese sports cars ever made, especially given the immense power mods avaliable for cheap. may not necessarily beat porsche straight out, but for the price they're hard to top.

Being an RX-7 owner, i am kinda biased, but it's amazing the similarities between the RX-7 and the porsche.
As far as a real sports car, you can't get any closer to the definition than an RX-7. Lightweight, powerful, and perfect weight distribution front and rear, plus other suspension benefits make the RX-7 (all 3 generations) some of the best track cars ever made.
My car in particular will run with almost any 951 you put up against it; both on the track and the street.
I have a mildly modified 89 Turbo II with around 270 rwhp. it weighs about 2700 lbs, and has perfect 50 50 weight distribution. The powerband is pretty wide because of the smaller turbo I have on the car. It will do the quartermile in 13 flat pretty easily. My best was a 13.4@106, this was on a day with 95 degree heat and 90% humidity. My boost was dropping off to about 5 lbs at the top of the gears.
Once I buy a 951, my goal is to make it untouchable of course . But as far as comparisons to the porsche, I have to give the RX-7 a thumbs up.
As far as the Supra goes, it's definitely a rock solid car that's capable of making gobs of power. However, with a curb weight around 3500 lbs, it's not quite as nimble and tossable as the Porsches and RX-7's.
