Question HELP!!! 2.7l Cooling hose connection

I have an '89 n/a with the 2.7l engine. I am in the last stage of replacing t-belt, balance shaft belt, accessory belts, oil cooler seal, and etc... The water pump that I took out only had one connection, to the lower radiator hose. Due to this connection the hose coming from the expansion bottle was connected to a small aftermarket hose and into the radiator just above the lower hose outlet. I got a new pump that has a spot to hook up the hose from the bottle (or so I think...) I currently have a cap on that spot. If I make that connection I will be left with a spot on the radiator (which I could place a cap on) My question is how is this supposed to be connected???

The extra hook up on the water pump is for the turbo modle. It should be blocked off from the factory. I am not sure about the connection you are talking about on the radiator?

I don't remember a spot being caped on the water pump on my 89 944 na, but I do remember a cap on one of the radiator spots.

I wish I could go look for you but the car is at the mechanic.

Maybe this will help? (it says from 83-85 944)
