Post painting camshaft cover?

If I repaint my camshaft cover, can I just use sandpaper to remove the paint from the top where it says PORSCHE?

I don't see why not, as a matter of fact I think that is one of the "techniques" used to make it look pretty. Painted background and a polished foreground, I want to do it some time in the future

Yes you can,,it's easier if you sand the PORSCHE letters and they're smooth though. After sanding, cleaning, you can spray the whole thing, wait a few minutes and use a rag and finger tip, with brake cleaner to clean the paint off the letters and any gasket surface. Check the link in my profile to see a red one.

all the 944S cars i've seen have the tan color valve cover as well as the same color for the intake manifold. that was sprayed over the ceramic coating. i simply repainted the valve cover and intake manifold silver with black lettering - looks clean and sophisticated.

my intake is silver and valve cover is tan. (note that my car is a 944s2) you can look in my signature links for pics of the engine. to see it in more detail hit the "original button on the bottom of the screen" and you will get some good detail on what I mean.

Danno - What would you charge to anodize a camshaft cover?

Thanks,

BA951,

Yeah, that's what I did. I painted it, then basically used sand paper. But if you have a drill attachment, you can do it smother because it will obviously only sand down the raised "PORSCHE"

Looks like a final layer of clearcoat over the whole thing will keep the bare aluminum letters looking better over time.

John, it would be about $150-200 to anodize the cam-tower.

Just discussed today with a friend of mine of possibility to anodize camtower.
He has made some tests and he showed me the procedure. It was very easy to do.Actually anodize is quite cheap to do at home.Material costs are very low.All it takes is some pioneering-spirt !
