Granite 944

I finally decided to heck with it! I want my car back on the road sooner.......not later! I'm looking for a used engine to stick in my '85na and run around on until I can get my original engine completly rebuilt. I put the rebuild on hold since I'll be getting laid off from work next month, and don't want to take any short cuts on the rebuild because of cost restrictions. I've got a line on an na 2.5 motor with 80K miles on it, compression test of 165lbs all cyls.(so the wrecking yard says) for a price of $1200.00 exchange. No electrical or clutch with it.
Anyone know of a fairly close by source for a used engine? Anyone locally wanting to sell a running engine? Thanks.......BIG TIME!!

Ken, there's a whole whack of 944 NA's up here in Vancouver BC at a wrecker on Mitchell Island. When I checked last year, they looked to be in pretty decent condition - just insurance w.o.'s! Prices would be in Cdn$$ too, so it'll he US$75 = C$1, or inverse, for your US$1 you get around C$1.33 - not as good as 2 months ago, but maybe a savings.

Check the internet for the yards up here. You might get a good deal on the engine with clutch.

I have a 1987 long block with about 100k on the clock. I bought this engine about two years ago for a project. As it turned out the project had a bent valve so I redid the head and didn't use the engine. I have about $800 in the engine. I had planed on replacing the rod bearings, front seals, water pump and belts. If interested send me a email.

Thanks Tom, I couldn't remember who I talked to about a used engine some time back. It was Danger. I just shot him an email!
Randy, thanks for the suggestion of looking up there for one. Might prove to be a good source! I'll have to look into this option shortly.
Terry, I thank you for the offer, but at least for now, I'm going to try to stay close to home,trying to avoid cost/hassle of freighting an engine.

Check with Autowerks Northwest - 425-788-3476, or Campbell Nelson - 425-771-4931, or Redmond European - 425-376-2655 (Monty or John at Redmond Euro will FIND you one if you ask him to, Leif at Autowerks would probably want to install it too but may have one or know where to get one, Campbell Nelson is a large dismantler for the area but they charge outrageous prices on most stuff)

You might be better off looking for one elsewhere even with shipping. I got my last one from Florida for a great price even with ~$150 freight. Try 944 Ecology (NY), Oklahoma Foreign (OK), or Ian's Euro Parts (FL) for a guaranteed good condition used engine.
