Think my clutch or tranny just blew up.

Definitely sounds like blown clutch to me. Many people put in rubber-centered discs as replacement. Just because the PO replaced the clutch doesn't mean he put in a spring-centered one.
Chunks of rubber in the bellhousing confirms it!

I don't have chunks (at least didn't see any.)
also when I removed the rubber cover on the trans I twisted the drive shaft it only moved a tiny bit left / right and felt tight.
this thunking used to happen like once in a while last year. yesterday driving home from university ti basicly did it all the way home.
I have a feeling it's the clutch also.
I'm still hesitant to buy a clutch before going to my mechanic next week.
if I drive the car like this for another 3-4 weeks befoer I get it done I'm scared I'll blow my transmission also if it is the clutch but I have no other choice as I have no other car right now lol.
