Default Transaxle reseal???

Pulling apart my S2 to do the clutch, and "while I'm in there" there is quite a bit of caked-on wet dirt on the tranny case. No drips, but obviously the seals have been slowly leaking - especially the paper gaskets at the rear "nose" of the case. Only 106K miles on the car with no signs of needing a transaxle rebuild yet. So, I'm wondering if it's possible to pull the case apart and do a full reseal (about $50 for the seal set from Paragon, Pelican, etc.) without disturbing bearings, gears, etc.

Thoughts? Anyone done this? Worthwhile, or should I just clean off the dirt, keep the lube oil topped off, and wait until rebuild time?

Thanks,
Scott

Just clean it.

If you really are a busy body, you can replace the mainshaft seal fairly easily.

Looks like it's mainly the paper seals and the mainshaft seals. Probably just do the mainshaft, clean it up, and call it good. Easy to get carried away. . .

Buy a kit and do the axles... probably cheaper that way and then you know it is done...
