I will have the S2 flywheel resurfaced, as well as the PP. I will repack the release bearing with grease, if it feels bad I will not hesitate to just buy a new one - the release bearing is the one part of the clutch setup I will NOT mess with. The 968 has new needle bearings and fork rod as of last year so I will reuse those. For the clutch disk, I will either use the used S2 disk or I will try out the mopar clutch suggested in a recent thread. And I'll do my best at finding a used fork in nice shape........

Read your last post again. I think you just committed a Freudian slip where your subconscious thought surfaced. I don't think you believe its a good idea deep down inside so maybe a new disc will be better...

Even though I am looking for a less expensive disc solution for my 944 resurrection, I would not put a used disc in for the simple reason that even with the higher cost of the stock disc it makes no sense to put something in with an x factor -- esp when you consider the cost of replacement.
I do agree, however, that if you are going to be in there in the short run or just like wrenching -- then a used disc is no problem.

Frank, it's not a Freudian slip, it's just honesty - I would prefer to use new parts all the time. But for the sake of saving money, and considering that the S2 setup will only be in there for a few months, I'm considering using used parts. Everyone here has a "used" clutch in their car... it's not catastrophic. The only issue would be if the parts I put in are broken or worn out, which of course I wouldn't do. And like Tom said, the only thing I'm out is time.
