Post Southern California get together next Friday.....

Rather than a Malibu run....which are great BTW! Next Friday 6/13/03, a couple of us are meeting at Buttonwillow raceway near Bakersfield. Occassionally the track puts on a "test and tune" day. Essentially it is 8 hours of unlimited track time (normally there are no run groups).....cost will be $175 paid to the track if anybody is interested in going. Usually they run track 13 or 14 configuration clockwise. For more track details, here is the url.

<a href="http://www.buttonwillowraceway.com" target="_blank">www.buttonwillowraceway.com</a>

It's about 1.5 hour drive from Los Angeles straight up Interstate 5 freeway.

So far I know of three 996 TT's going, plus a 360 Modena Cab, oh and my Dad's LS400! Unconfirmed are a 996, a 996 Cab, 4 996 TT's, a 355 Cab and an Audi RS2 Coupe (it's a conversion in case you were wondering). Also a couple of folks may show up from BY Design.

Last time we went it was A LOT of fun....hope to see you there, track opens at 9.00am. Email me if you are thinking of going...

Sorry, I can't make it yet! My baby still needs important work to get to that point, but I do want to go some time in the future.

I need new tires and a bunch of control arm rubber bushings at the minimum!

What are the rules, in the requirements? My friends are interested! Helmets? Do you need safety harness?

Thanks,

Julie

How much track time will one expect to get? Is it like a time trial where people are staggered every few seconds? Also, is there pit inspection involved? Will it be timed so you know what your lap time is? Finally, is there a limit on how many cars there?

Just FYI - TCRA will be at Buttonwillow that Saturday and Sunday, if any of you wants to get some sanctioned racing in (Time Trials and Club Racing). They are pretty damn cheap too - $215 for the weekend for TT, $225 for club racing, and $280 for the school. If you don't have a membership, you'll have to also pay $55 for a yearly membership. Also, transponders are needed if you want to get timed... if you don't have one, the rental price is $50.

Additionally, the By Design guys have shown up to most of the TCRA events this year - lots of NICE cars (usually, there are 10+ of them that show up - GT2's, 996TTs, Ferraris, etc.)

SANDOVAL -

Were you at California with the PCA/Grand-Am this last weekend? I didn't see your 968. If you are going to go to BW for the weekend (with TCRA), email me - I want to check out some of the interior mods you've done and so forth.
