Post HID Hella Micro DE's?

I'm hungering for some hid action, who has successfully used an HID system in their car? Headlights or running lights? And where do you buy hella products?

Phillips are a Subsidiary of Hella. I run H4 hi/low 7000k in the headlamps, Micro Xenon De Driving lights and Micro DE Halogen Fog lamps. The Main and driving are great and illuminate a good distance while the fog are nearly useless, just short and wide range.

Fogs are designed to be that way to get under the fog, light the pavement up, not backdazzle you, and keep you on the road as you creep along. If you have ever been in thick fog on a mountain road you will understand the design concept.

If you have extra cash to burn I don't think fog HIDs should pop up at the top of the shopping list. Halogens work just fine.

And Phillps is now a subsidary of Hella? <img src="graemlins/roflmao.gif" border="0" alt="[hiha]" /> This will come as pretty big news to both these companies.

My mistake, Hella and Phillips use the same Ballast packs. One of the Performance shops told me that they were integrated company, but they must be seperate.

Yeah, they are unrelated. Phillips supplies Hella with many of their products.

I'm not certain about this but have been told Hella is actually out of the bulb business. Everything comes from sub-contractors. So they are no longer a reliable supplier of quality bulbs as they sub to Asian manufacturers where cost is the decision criteria, not quality.

So things are not as they appear and you need to be careful. But if you are looking at lighting you can usually be pretty secure if you stick with Phillips/Narva or Osram/Sylvania.
