Post Front bumper re-align.. possible?

Well- it finally happened- someone backed into my front bumper. I guess I'm lucky as the nose is ok.
Killed my license plate frame and front plate, nearly removed the rubber bumper pad on the pass side. No visble damage to the bumper itself, but the driver's side is about 1 1/2" pushed in.. I guess the impact was on an angle on the Pass side pushing in the drivers side.
any ideas besides buying new bumper shocks??
TIA- Chris.

Maybe a chance to do the inset bumper mod that many '44 people are doing. Look for the write up but essentially it has you push in the other side to match.

Get a used bumper shock. Be thankful you had it because it saved you from more serious damage.

If you pull it out instead of replacing it, next time it WON'T protect the car and you'll be sorry.

They're not too expensive used, considering how effective they are.

"You'd be suprised Brett...I have new shocks on my bumper, and I bought this little crow-bar to hook into the tow-holes under the bumper. My front bumper gets backed into pretty regularly here at the university! I use the tool to yank the bumper back out. Works for now, at least they keep hitting rubber!
Keeping fingers crossed."

I just fixed mine yesterday. I used a Come-A-Long to pull mine out, it worked great, and no damage to the car at all.....good luck

I have a less paint scratching and bumper mount cracking way to do it than using a come along. On the side that is pushed in, unbolt the bolt that bolts the bumper to the shock. Get a box or something that is roughly the same height as the bumper and CAREFULLY swing the bumper out from its mounting area and set the loose end on the box to hold it up while you are working. Dont pull the bumper too far out or the connected side may make contact with that fender. Then take a medium to heavy screwdriver and put it through the bumper mounting hole on the bumper shock and use the screwdriver to pivot the shock. As the shock turns, the spring pressure inside it will push it out slowly. Do this until it stops moving outwards and then line the shock mount hole back to vertical so the bumper will slip back on. I have done this 3 times and its as easy as pie. I found out the hard way that the bumper mounts can disintigrate if you wrap a chain around the bumper and pull. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Frown]" src="frown.gif" />

I'll definetly try the remove bumper scenario- I dont want to ruin the pistons by forcing back the wrong way- Thanks all!
I do like the "euro" bumper look btw..
