Default Fuel pump placement (cover delete)

Hi guys!

So, I replaced the fuel pump and the car starts normally... thanks for all your help!
Before I'm through with that area, I want to clean it up a bit. My car is an '83, but I have updated it with the newer style plastic fuel tank. I’m still using the metal fuel pump cover, but it really doesn’t work with the new tank. I’d like to get rid of it entirely, but then I wouldn’t know where to attach the fuel pump. Where is it attached to in later models (if any one has any pictures, I’d love to see them)? Do you think it would be possible to affix it closer to the fuel filter? I’m afraid that if I don’t connect it to the lower area of the tank, the gravity feed won’t work quite right.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Jared
