Cool 944Fest '02 July 7th Mansfield, Ohio

Mark your calanders folks, 944Fest 2002 is set for Sunday, July 7th, 2002. I've moved the event to Mansfield, OH to make it a little more inviting to the Columbus/Dayton/Cincin crowd, and I'm turning it up a notch. Mansfield is half way between Columbus and Cleveland, about 70 miles from either. I'm hosting the event at my home and decided to make it special. I'm working with caterers to arrange a pig roast, kegs, volleyball, all the usual summer shindig stuff, but focused around the 944s. It promises to be a great time.
I'm thinking but not promising.. what if I were to arrange for a lawnmower (rider) autocross? I've got a few rolling acres and could easily set up a challenging route to test the drivers. Say, 5$ a run, $100 to win? I could get a couple junky craftsman riders, upgrade the drive pulleys and yank the mowing gear..run thru the cones and win some $$? Maybe I've had a few beers and when I'm clear of mind this won't sound like such a good idea.. but right now it sounds like a lot of fun!! You bet your *** you'll have to sign a waiver!
E-mail me, Dan@Pierson.com if you want on the mailing list, and I'll keep you posted. I hope you can join us!

Dan, I would definitely be interested in attending. The lawnmower Autox sounds like a good time, especially after a few beers. Keep us posted!

Well if enough people chime in I would be willing to make the long drive from NC.

Also, I think the lawn mower race sounds like a boat load of fun. Maybe there should be two categories, 1 for sober people, 1 for people who are a bit tipsy (they must have sober drivers to get home of course).

Ummm...
How far would that be from Houston....

Once upon a time I lived in Bellbrook, way back when it was a suburb of Kettering, which was a suburb of Dayton, which is in Ohio, which is still to far from Houston!

Ya'll have fun! <img src="graemlins/burnout.gif" border="0" alt="[burnout]" />

Well, after missing last year, I said I would go this year. Unless something at work pops up, I'll be there, minus the 951 of course.

You race the lawnmowers, I'll race my Buick. I think you might win.

I have it scheduled on my calander... as for a caravan up, that would be sweet ! (except for my Buick screwing up the scenery.

I am proably staying in Columbus, but heading up Saturday. At the very least, we all could meet up in Columbus and continue the trip.

Update.. I'm working on a simple website to provide answers to questions you may have. There is a link to get directions, and updates will be added as I finalize things. Check her out so far:
<a href="http://home.earthlink.net/~944fest/944Fest02.html" target="_blank">944Fest02</a>
If you've already sent me mail or posted intent, you are on my mailing list and will get a formal verification late June or early July. I'm looking forward to meeting all the new guys!

It shall be sweet!
